DAAS offers variety of services and assistance to eligible elders, blind and disabled individuals. You can contact your own county services by calling the above statewide 800 number.  Below is a sample of services offered in Santa Clara County.

Adult Protective Services: APS provides comprehensive social services to elders and dependent adults who may have been victims of abuse, neglect or self-neglect. These services mandated by the State of California, include: investigation, assessment, counseling, development of a service plan, case management and referrals to community agencies. In Home Support Services: IHSS program provides assistance to eligible aged, blind and disabled who are unable to remain safely in their own home without assistance. These services may include: cleaning, washing, vacuuming, dusting, taking the garbage, heavy cleaning, menu planning, meal preparation, food shopping, non medical personal care, bathing and grooming, bladder and bowel care, dressing, transportation, etc.  For additional information contact IHSS Intake Screener, Santa Clara County: (408) 928-3737

Public Guardian/Conservator: The Public Guardian may be appointed by the Superior Court as Conservator of a person and/or their estate or to serve as the trustee for elderly, mentally ill, or incapacitated individuals when no friend or relatives available or appropriate. Senior Nutrition Program: SNP provides a county wide service through 33 congregate nutrition sites, three senior day care centers and the Meals on Wheels program. For home delivered meals in Santa Clara County please contact: (800) 510-2020

Veterans Services Office: VSO assists veterans and their families in obtaining benefits and services. Veterans Service Representatives assist veterans and/or family members in completing applications for benefits and claims to the Veterans Administration. Public Administration:
The Santa Clara County Public Administration handles the administration of estate of persons who die in the community when no family or no other person is willing or appropriate to administrate their estates. For additional information in Santa Clara County contact: (408) 534-2520
